"Love doesn't just sit there, like a stone, it has to be made, like bread;
remade all the time, made new."
remade all the time, made new."
--- Ursula K. Le Gun
For a few months now, I've been trying to make a couple of loaves of bread when I happen to have the oven going. Most of the time this coincides with pizza night, when I'm making dough anyway and only have to clean the food processor once. In the photo, a garlic loaf is on the left, and an onion loaf is on the right. Both recipes are from a book titled "Electric Bread." Our bread machine is in the attic --- I moved on from it a few years ago, initially because the food processor is much quicker. I've come to really prefer loaves baked in a pair of old Pyrex loaf pans, because they're less dense, bake more evenly (and I can brush the top with some half & half for a finer crust), and slices actually fit in the toaster.
I've also tried a cinnamon-raisin loaf and an Irish soda bread.
